One quill, Tasks, as the kit draws it on each surface. Nobody wrote three screens; the quill describes one, and every surface renders it, the command line and your assistant included.

The principle

Two layers, kept apart

Your data is the part that lasts, so it is yours to hold and to control. The software around it is the part that changes, so it is quick to build, replace and throw away. The second never owns the first.

Durable · user-controlled

Your domain data

What your home or your work knows: notes and files, a customer list, the van's service log, the club's rota. It lives on hardware you choose, in standard shapes every quill agrees on, and it outlasts every piece of software that touches it.

  • Where you want it. A Raspberry Pi, an old laptop, the server room or any VPS. Move whenever you like.
  • Encrypted before it reaches the disk. You sign in with a password and never handle a key.
  • Under your control. Every person, quill and AI agent is on one screen with what it may see and change, and a switch to cut it.
  • Somebody says yes. Roles name who is responsible — the team lead, the product owner — and a flow you build yourself asks them before it goes on. Procedures without a workflow product.
  • Validated when it has to be. Freeze a copy of the books at year end, sealed with a digest. Your accountant signs it with a key of their own, and anybody can check the pair without asking you or us. How it works.

The application layer

The software around your data, in pieces called quills: screens, jobs, APIs and AI skills. Describe what you need and an AI agent builds one. When your needs change, change it, swap it or throw it away.

  • Remove one and nothing is lost. A quill takes its screens with it when it goes. The data it worked with stays where it was.
  • Exactly what you need. A budget for the house, a customer list for the shop, a rota for the club: made to fit, not bought and bent.
  • Safe by design. A quill says what it will touch before it gets anything, and an agent is never given a secret.
  • Nobody starts from zero. Take a quill from the catalog, change it, and share what you made.

How it fits together

Every surface talks to one server. One gate checks every read and write. One sealed table holds every record, in shapes every quill agrees on. A quill sits around the data, never on top of it: remove one, and its records stay.

The shape of a cloud. The five surfaces draw one description from each quill, so a quill has no UI code and is on the phone, in the browser, in the terminal and in your assistant at once. The amber path is one quill's access: CRM may read and write organisations and deals, and nothing else.

One gate checks every read and write. Quills are drawn from one description on the web, the phone's web app and the terminal, and every quill's data is tools an assistant can use. How a quill extends a datamodel, and what the server keeps, is in the developer handbook.
